Birklands Gardening Club

Birklands Gardening Club benefitted from a RoLo Grant in April 2014, their grant application was for the provision of a Greenhouse at the Reg Freeman Community Garden for use by youngsters at an after school club.  This what Chrissie Hancock, the applicant, had to say:

Greenhouse-4I have been running an after school club at Birklands Primary School since joining the staff 3 years ago. I wanted to provide the children with experiences which they can take with them for life. At first I ran sports based activities, but so did most of the staff. I wanted to offer something that no one else was.

Warsop Fire Station under threat

Fire-StationSquareAs you may have seen recently in the news, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) have begun a 12 week consultation on proposals to reduce front line services. Part of these proposals include closing Warsop Fire Station for good.

Aspire Apr 14

Great news earlier this week Mansfield District Council approved the conditions for our planning, enabling work to commence at the Aspire Centre (old Eastwoods Depot next to the Health Centre).

Almost 3 years behind the scenes to get to this point, and with only weeks to go until the original planning application lapsed, not time to delay in starting.

Earlier today (25thApril 2014) a few volunteers from @BigWarsop and the Warsop Youth Club, along with David Childs and his JCB from Hopkinson Plant Hire Ltd. began to clear the site to make it safer to start the rest of the works on site and prepare for the car park which is one of the next important jobs we need to start outside, followed promptly by the landscaping and polly tunnels to kick start the horticulture side of our delivery plan.
