Training helps to secure jobs

Eighteen people from the Big Warsop area have been given the opportunity to train for jobs in the security industry, thanks to Big Local funding.

The 5-day course was delivered by local training company Prosec, which specialises in providing comprehensive training programmes for the security industry. Three women and 15 men aged between 19 and 50 attended the course. Fifteen of the students went on to complete and pass the exam – a success rate of 83%.

Vaughan O’Sullivan from Prosec said: “Big Warsop funding has given local residents the chance to qualify for the Security Industry Authority licence, which allows them to work in a range of security roles. Even during a recession, the industry offers plenty of job opportunities and I’m pleased to say that several of those who completed the training have already found work. We’re currently exploring options that will support the remaining candidates in their search for security jobs.”

The training was completed in October as part of activities that address Big Warsop’s priority of encourgaging training and enterprise. The successful students will receive their course certificates later this month.
