Reminiscing does you good

Older people who are members of the Jigsaw Friends project in Warsop have recently enjoyed taking part in some reminiscing activities, alongside the regular chair-based and gentle exercise sessions offered by the project, which is delivered by the Jigsaw Support Scheme.

Most people love to reminisce and remember the happy times of days gone by. It’s easy to get chatting when prompted to talk about a particular time or incident, or by listening to music or looking through a conversation box filled with items aimed at triggering personal memories. This kind of reminiscing exercise encourages people to socialise and swap stories that help them to get to know each other better.

Around 20 people regularly attend the weekly Jigsaw Warsop Friends sessions, which are held at both Melville Court and George Shooter Court. A weekly pub lunch and games are also held at The Plough, which is usually attended by ten people and a volunteer. However, at Christmas, a special festive lunch was served at The Plough for 20 of the people who regularly attend the exercise and reminiscence sessions.

The project is now planning to develop a ‘Jigsaw’ puzzle club to attract new members. If you are interested in finding out about joining any of the Jigsaw Warsop Friends activities, please call Jigsaw Mansfield on 01623 662200.
