Local Reps Update January to March 2020

January – March 2020

As your Big Local Rep, every three months or so, I share my thoughts on local area progress with you as residents and with the central team managing the national programme. Your comments and thoughts are always welcome. Most of all during these challenging of times, I wish you and your families and neighbours safekeeping and good health and positive spirits. I am mightily impressed with local action and support including through your Big Local partnership. If you haven’t yet heard them, tune into a bit of Big Local magic  written at Big Local Connects 2019. (Sadly this year’s event is deferred till summer 2021.)

Priorities and achievements looking back: running things well, reviewing the current plan and building the new plan

Running things

The partnership continues to meet monthly and partner agreements, reports on activities, minutes of meetings and stories of action and change are posted on the website. Monthly financial updates are provided by the Local Trusted Organisation, Mansfield CVS. Over the last few months, the partnership has also been reviewing the current plan and showing how much of the investment into the community has led to more sustainable projects and in many cases a lasting legacy. The plan review has been submitted for checking by Local Trust during which time the partnership continues to build the next one.

Doing things

It’s already hard to remember the range of activity going on before the mid-March focus on responding to Covid-19. At the February partnership meeting partner reports were agreed from Youth Roadshow, Each Amazing Breath, Ecologic, Infotech and Vibrant. In March, the latest achievements were celebrated in Warsop and District News, including the funding for the Warsop Old Hall Heritage project,

Key priorities looking ahead

Vibrant and MCVS have been two central organisations in responding to resident needs during the Covid-19 outbreak. The partnership is looking to ensure the new plan retains flexibility of approach underpinned by dedicated funding to respond as the crisis unfurls. A plan will be submitted to Local Trust in May for checking and with approval, be launched in July.
