Local Rep’s Update for Quarter 4 2017/18

January – March 2018

As your Big Local Rep, every three months or so, I share my thoughts on local area progress with you as residents and with the central team managing the national programme. Your comments and thoughts are always welcome.

Looking back

Running things

The partnership continues to meet monthly and partner agreements, reports on activities, minutes of meetings and stories of action and change are all posted on the website. Monthly financial updates are provided by the Local Trusted Organisation, Mansfield CVS.

Big Warsop continues to be working well in support of local resident priorities, meeting monthly to review activity and plan ahead. The big focus these last three months has been reviewing the last plan which runs out in June and building the new one. The review was very thorough and was commended by the central Local Trust team, especially for using a traffic light system to review all funded activity for likely sustainability and lasting legacy. The draft plan for 2018 -20 is currently being consulted on within the partnership.

Doing things

Funded activity across the main themes in the plan has brought benefits to local residents from small scale community chest (ROLO) grants in partnership with Rotary to wider community and organisational capacity building in partnership with Vibrant. Projects such as Future Greens and adult training are progressing well.

Two sharing and celebration events were popular and well attended, helping celebrate the work of the community chest and of Creative Warsop.

Looking ahead

The partnership completed its review in March and drafted the next community plan in April. This will be finalised and submitted by the partnership in May. Local Trust will then visit the partnership as part of the approval process, with the aim of the new plan being launched early in July.
