Big Warsop is funding a range of activities aimed at improving the life of older people in the Warsop Parish.
The activities are being delivered by Jigsaw Support Scheme, a local Nottinghamshire charity that supports disabled, vulnerable and older adults to help maintain their independence or their health. The first activity on offer is a series of chair-based exercise classes, delivered in George Shooter Court in Warsop and Melville Court in Meden Vale.
Eighteen people from the Big Warsop area have been given the opportunity to train for jobs in the security industry, thanks to Big Local funding.
The 5-day course was delivered by local training company Prosec, which specialises in providing comprehensive training programmes for the security industry. Three women and 15 men aged between 19 and 50 attended the course. Fifteen of the students went on to complete and pass the exam – a success rate of 83%.
Over the last couple of years, Big Warsop has been supporting Warsop Carnival as part of its priority to strengthen communities. Big Local provided £10,000 of funding for the carnival in 2014, and £4,000 in 2015.
