The little shop of opportunities

Hetty'sShopFrontHettys Charity opened its small shop in Warsop in December 2014. As the shop became increasingly busy, the volunteers wanted to maximise the space and broaden their services by extending into the rear of the shop and opening the upstairs for customers to use. Many of the people who visited the shop did so while they were visiting the health centre, and so Hetty’s shop also wanted to be able to offer customers a hot drink and a comfortable space where they could sit and chat with friends and the volunteers.

Local people benefit from CAB outreach

Close-up of Citizens Advice Bureau signMore than two hundred people have used the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) outreach in Warsop during the last year. The weekly outreach sessions at Warsop Town Hall are delivered by Mansfield CAB and jointly funded by Warsop Parish Council and Big Warsop. The service provides generalist advice for local people on all areas of social welfare law, including housing, employment, benefits, immigration, family and consumer law.

New lunch club for older residents

ChairBasedExercisesGroup activities being delivered by Jigsaw Friends in local community venues are proving popular with older residents.

Around thirty people are benefiting regularly from weekly chair-based exercise sessions held at Melville Court in Meden Vale on Wednesdays, and on Thursdays at George Shooter Court in Warsop.
